Being a 12 year-old girl growing up in Bed-Stuy, I have noticed that there needs to be some changes made to my neighborhood, state, and country based around housing, schools and society. Here are the first 6 things I would do if I were the president of The United States of America. The sidewalks everywhere are dirty and littered with gum and dog poop. A way to fix this problem so that the streets we walk on everyday are not disgusting is to have sanitation workers clean the sidewalks similar to the way that they clean the roads. The water bills in New York are unbelievably high and they make it hard for people to afford a simple necessity. If I were the president, I would lower the cost of water bills for homeowners so that they can take a nice, long shower without worrying about the piece of mail waiting for them at the end of the month.
College tuition prices are ridiculous and force many people to go without the higher education that would help them to get a better job. College in other countries are free and America should make it that way too, to ensure a greater success rate of our population. Racism is sadly still a large part of society and it makes living in America hard for many people. Children form the majority of their opinions based off of what their parents think and what they hear around them. Research dollars would be allocated toward developing environmentally friendly fuel sources and people and companies would be compensated for choosing solar panels and other things that are better for the environment.
Protecting our world is important for future generations and educating the public about what they can do to help would be a top priority. If I were president, kindness would prevail and people would treat those around them with love, respect and basic courtesy. I know I might be wearing rose colored glasses, but if people truly treated others as they want to be treated, the world would be a better place for everyone. Not everyone can become the president, but if those that do were better at doing what the people need and trying not to be ruled by money, every citizen of the country would benefit in a big way.

You have to buy new light bulbs and change them almost every six months. Just think of how much time and money you have to spend on a light bulb then, multiply that by the number of light fixtures in your house. Thomas Edison may have invented light bulbs but it is said that the ones that are in his house are still working from when he lived there. Imagine only having to buy light bulbs once in your whole life. It could be possible. The light bulb companies however have the patents for these and will not make them. The next thing I would change is I would make all clothing companies stop making animal print clothing. Pants and t-shirts with zebra print doesn't make me want to buy more things at that store.
I have almost completely stopped shopping at Gap because of this. The leopard print underwear was okay because not an excessive amount of people would see them but do we really need shirts and pants to match them. I think not. I'm sure that the animal rights activists are tackling this issue already but I would ban all animal print clothing. All it does for me is cause stress when I go shopping because it is practically the only thing that the stores sell. The most important thing I would change is having the DNR kill all of those stupid Japanese Beetles. I never noticed a problem of any sort that I would want some ladybug look alike to come in and kill.
All they do is land on you and bite you then, you try to kill them and it leaves an orange mark and some stinky substance on your clothes. I would personally make the DNR kill them all or take them back to where ever they came from. These obviously are not just any kind of bug because of how hard it is to kill them. It seems like everything you try doesn't work it just helps them reproduce. I read over this paper and wonder why people do these things. Our lives would be much easier and stress free without some of these troublesome things. Don't you ever look at an inventing and wonder what kind of moron had enough time to think of something like that? Just think of all the time, money, and energy you waste doing some of these everyday jobs.
Just think of all the things we never use and all the things that annoy you. You May Also Find These Documents Helpful. Good Essays. How Did Thomas Edison Impact The World Words 4 Pages.
